Look soooo fly!
      WHAT TO WEAR GUIDE

So let’s talk first things first- these photos are about YOU GUYS. We know nothing about clothing or fashion and, to be honest, ultimately we mostly don’t care what you wear to your session. The most important thing to us is that you guys feel like a million bucks and are able to be yourselves because THAT is what will make these photos killer. However, these are some tips we’ve gathered over the years, photographing alllll different couples with lots of different styles.

If you’re still unsure about what to wear after this guide, bring options! 3-5 tops, a few bottoms, and a dress or two and we’ll help you choose the best option for where we’re shooting.

As always, hit us up if you have any questions! We’re always here for ya and willing to help!

MAKE SURE YOUR CLOTHING MAKES SENSE.

Comfort is CRUCIAL in getting you guys to relax and be yourselves, so wear what makes sense! Is your engagement session in the middle of the desert? Wear footwear that will protect your feet from cactus and rocks! The beach? Plan on running around barefoot! Is there snow on the ground? Dress cozy, bring blankets, and rock some cute boots. Are we shooting near a lake that will TOTALLY be killer to jump and play in? Bring your swimsuit! Will we be standing at a windy mountain overlook? Maybe consider not wearing a short dress you’ll constantly be pulling down.

Above all else, we want you to be able to focus on the two of you and not trying to tough out discomfort.

      COLORS + PATTERNS

We highly recommend sticking to two rules when choosing the color of your clothing for engagement sessions- one, keep in mind the colors where we are shooting. For example, if we're shooting under green trees, a green dress may not be the best option. And two, you can't go wrong with earth tones. Blacks, whites, greys, taupes or naturals, navy, burgundy, deep orange, mustard yellow, forest green, etc. These colors look GORGEOUS on every skin tone and photograph like a dream. We typically tell our couples to avoid bright colors, especially reds, pinks, and bright yellows. These colors can create something called "color casting" on your skin and make your faces look oddly colored.

As for patterns, opt for smaller, more subtle patterns instead of chunky, loud patterns.

      PROPS

Hats, sunglasses,a blanket, puppies, a pizza- anything that feels like “you guys” and gives you something to do with your hands… BRING IT! We love incorporating fun things into your engagement session to make it as you as possible.

      IN-HOME SESSIONS.

The same rules apply for in home sessions except feel free to show a little more skin. Our couples who opt for in-home sessions typically want that more intimate feel. We love tank tops, distressed denim, a cozy sweater- anything you’d normally snuggle up on the couch in! We’ve also had couples who want to lounge around with their man shirtless or be in a t shirt and undies- whatever is your jam!

      HAIR + MAKEUP.

If we haven’t said it enough yet- we want you to feel as confident, comfortable, and beautiful as possible. If you feel best after getting your makeup on, do that! If you feel yourself throwing on some bronzer and mascara and letting your hair air dry right before your photos- get it, girl. We want you to feel like and look like yourself!

If you want to get a spray tan- we suggest going with the most natural tan as possible. Spray tans photograph a little more orange than you see them in the mirror, so keep that in mind.
